Directive 8020 Chapter Select

Directive 8020 chapter select explained. When it unlocks, how it preserves relationship flags and the fastest reload route for endings B–E.

Chapter select is Directive 8020's trophy mop-up tool. It unlocks at credits on your first clear and lets you jump into any episode with full relationship state preserved. This is the cleanest way to bag the four non-canonical endings without replaying the campaign.

How chapter select preserves state

  • Relationship flags — frozen at whatever value you held at the START of the loaded chapter.
  • Premonition scans — count is preserved, but missed ones can be re-collected if you load from before that chapter.
  • Survivor list — characters dead at chapter start stay dead. Chapter-select does not resurrect.
  • Curator's Cut — runs as a separate save slot. Doesn't overwrite chapter-select progress.

Optimal reload order for endings B–E

  1. From a save-everyone clear, chapter-select Episode 7.
  2. Pass 1 — vote with Akin, pick 'Sacrifice' in Ep 8 → Ending B.
  3. Pass 2 — reload Ep 7, vote against Akin, pick 'Escape' → Ending C.
  4. Pass 3 — reload Ep 7, fail defence waves, pick 'Sacrifice' → Ending D.
  5. Pass 4 — reload Ep 7, fail everything, tank Ep 8 boss → Ending E.

FAQ

Does Directive 8020 have chapter select?

Yes. Chapter select unlocks after the credits roll on your first clear. You can reload from the start of any episode while keeping your full relationship state from that save.

Does chapter select break trophies?

No. Chapter select awards all ending and choice-locked trophies as if you'd played through. The only trophy chapter-select can't recover is Crew Manifest — that requires zero deaths across one continuous run.

Can you change choices in chapter select?

Yes — every choice from the selected episode onward becomes editable. Earlier-episode flags are locked to the save state you loaded from.
