Directive 8020 Relationships System

How Directive 8020's relationship system works. Trust deltas per character, what each score gates, and how the Destinies matrix decides which ending you reach.

Directive 8020's Destinies system is the most consequential change in Supermassive's series formula since Until Dawn. Every dialogue choice and most action prompts shift a relationship score that locks ending eligibility at Episode 7. Below is the full breakdown.

Score scale

  • +3 — Unique Curator's Cut dialogue, ending 'flavour' shifts.
  • +2 — Save-everyone gate cleared with margin for one QTE fail.
  • +1 — Minimum survival threshold for Episode 7 defence waves.
  • 0 — Neutral. Coin-flip on Ep 7.
  • -1 or below — Death gate opens in Episodes 5 and 7.

FAQ

How does the relationship system work in Directive 8020?

Each playable character has a trust score with Brianna, capped at +3 / -3. Dialogue choices and key actions shift the score by ±1 or ±2. Episode 7's bridge vote cashes each score out as a survival boolean.

Can you check relationship scores in Directive 8020?

Yes. The Destinies menu shows current trust per protagonist, last delta and a relationship arrow. It updates after each chapter break.

What is the highest trust score?

+3 is the theoretical cap but +2 is enough for every save-everyone gate. Banking +3 unlocks unique Curator's Cut dialogue lines but does not gate trophies.
